Aid for Ukraine

Sunflower Mission - Ongoing as of February 28th, 2023

Last year Manufaktura USA/Janelle Imports, together with our wonderful customers, donated nearly $50,000 to the Town of Boleslawiec, Poland to help care for Ukraine refugees (see letter below).

Today, we are pleased to announce that we will be donating 100% of our profits from sales of stoneware in our exclusive “Sunflowers” pattern to support severely injured Ukrainian veterans.

Sunflowers Pattern Polish Pottery
Since February 24th, 2022, Ukraine military and territorial defense has been bravely defending their homeland, and their people, against brutal and unjust invasion by their much larger neighbor - the Russian Federation. As a result, many brave Ukrainian soldiers have been severely injured while defending their country's sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

We believe it is our duty to give back to those who have sacrificed so much, not only for their freedom, but freedom and democracy around the world. Ukraine is showing the rest of us that our Western democratic values to live within the international rules and norms are not free, and when brutally attacked have to be defended.

Our “Sunflowers'' pattern is a symbol of hope, renewal, and peaceful coexistence.  It features Ukraine's national flowers surrounded by tiny peace symbols within their never ending blue sky. We hope that by purchasing products featuring this design, you can help to support our new mission.  All profits from sales of this pattern will be donated to Operation Renew Prosthetics (ORP), which coordinates the transportation and treatment of Ukrainian soldier amputees to the Medical Center for Orthotics and Prosthetics (MCOP) in Maryland, where they receive state-of-the-art artificial limbs.

We thank you for your support in this important cause, and hope that together we can make a difference in the lives of those who have given so much for their country and the world.

10% of Sales Mission - March 6, 2022 thru July 30, 2022

Dear Customer:

On behalf of my entire team, I sincerely express our solidarity with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. We are heartbroken by the senseless devastation, lives lost, and all those Ukrainians who have been injured or displaced. We are outraged by the horrific crimes being committed. And we are absolutely in awe of the bravery of Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian military, and the millions of ordinary Ukrainian civilians who have stood up in the face of terror to defend their homes, their country, and their freedom.

Our connection to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people is deeply personal.

Ukraine and Poland are like brother and sister, two neighboring countries with over 1000 years of interconnected history and ever-changing borders. My grandparents were born in the Volhynia region of Ukraine – a region in the northwest of modern Ukraine which was once part of Poland. Our story is a Polish story, but in many ways, it is a Ukrainian one, too.

Prior to the invasion, Poland was already home to the largest population of Ukrainians outside of their country. Many of these families were already residing in Bolesławiec and some even worked for Manufaktura, the factory that produces our beautiful stoneware. Many of our loyal customers have held stoneware crafted and painted by Ukrainian workers in their hands. Few of those same workers whose dedication, hard work, and passion is the inspiration for all that we do have returned to their home to fight. We salute them and honor their sacrifice.

Since the beginning of the invasion, more than five and half million Ukrainians, mostly women and children, have fled the war that has engulfed their country, crossing into Poland.  Many have returned to Ukraine, some continued on to many different countries in Europe, or elsewhere, but close to two million have remained in Poland.

Rather than feeling helpless, we decided to act.  From March, 2022 through July, 2022, we have donated 10% of our sales along with customers' individual donations raising nearly $50,000 towards humanitarian assistance for displaced families in Bolesławiec Poland. We are so grateful that together with the generosity of our caring customers and friends, we have been able to make this small difference in the lives of so many suffering as a result of this brutal war.

Along with my team, I thank you for listening and helping.
